There is a document included in the zip you downloaded called:
"How to delete the demo data and use VMS as a new user or upgrade your existing Version 2000 B0061.doc"
In that doc you will find step by step instructions on how to delete the demo data.

Hi Barry,

Wow, this program is just great.

I am curious to know how to go about customizing the database...am I able to access the backend file so that I can create the specific reports and GUI that my board of directors is requesting? If you are not giving out the source-code, than please forgive me for asking, I am very new to the programming world.

I have been working very hard to create a program specifically for my volunteer center that does almost everything you have here! It is very refreshing to find software for nonprofits that does not require a separate grant application. I hope you realize how much this will help my community, and I'm sure many others like it.

Hello,
I have just installed VMS on Access 2007 and followed the instructions to open it. Whenever I opened the file, Access would stop responding. I deleted the file and then reinstalled it, and still have the same issues. Any advice?
Thanks!

Only demographics are on address, phone number, i.e., list volunteers by the first 3 letters of Postal Code or by area code or by exchange number of telephone number.

We are reviewing the program to see if it is something that we can use for our VC. I am very impressed with it. I was just wondering if there was anyway that it captures demographics of volunteers for reporting purposes only.

Hi Alaena,

I have only seen this error when you try to open the vms.mdb file directly by either double clicking on it or pressing enter. You will need to use a modify version of the VMS2003 shortcut to point to MS-Access 2007 rather than the MS Access 2003. The Target of VMS2003 is as follows:
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE” C:\VMS\vms.mdb /wrkgrp C:\VMS\vms.mdw /user Cedrick /Pwd /excl

You will probably just need to change “OFFICE11″ to “OFFICE12″ and it will probably work. In other words point to the folder where MS Access 2007 executable (MSACCESS.EXE) is .

Hi,
I am trying to install this database on 2007. I followed the instructions that you posted but I get the following error:

You do not have the necessary permissions to use the object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)

Thanks a lot!

I wish I could help you with this Wes, but the way VMS was setup to have an unlimited number of Departments within an Agency. I would suggest that you look at the movie on my website describing how to setup Agency Positions.

I hope that VMS works out for you and your staff.

Cheers,
